HubSpot is seeking to add a leader to our venture capital team at the Director level. Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Development this new Director will help drive our focus of investing in and supporting remarkable founders and building generational software companies across the application and infrastructure layer with a particular focus on AI. We have a highly active, growing portfolio of startup founders and HubSpot itself has scaled rapidly over the past few years, serving over 200,000 customers in 100 countries.

Our investing practice has grown considerably in the past year, and we are seeking a highly motivated member of our team to lead investments and fund operations.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Lead a team responsible for researching and developing theses in the B2B software market, identifying shifts and evolving trends in the HubSpot ecosystem, as well as their implications for the business

  • Run the investment process from sourcing investments through to screening and final diligence

  • Drive our sourcing and diligence approach of early-and-growth stage strategic investments, including competitive research, financial analysis, and memo composition

  • Work cross-functionally with our product organization in scoping investment-driven partnerships

  • Maintain a strong pulse on the broader venture ecosystem of accelerators, incubators, and other co-investors (institutional and strategic), representing HubSpot Ventures at industry conferences and events

  • Develop and nurture relationships with founders, companies, and venture capital firms for potential investment opportunities.

  • Interface with startup management teams and work with portfolio companies as activities such as new rounds of financing and exit events arise. Additionally work with cross-functional execs internally including product, engineering, legal, and finance

  • Actively monitor the investment portfolio and work with portfolio companies as activities such as new rounds of financing and exit events arise

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years experience working at a top-tier early or growth stage investment practice; software investing experience is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills

  • High autonomy with a track record of ideating and executing cross-functional projects and partnerships

  • Deep interest in and love for both the SMB market and HubSpot customer values, needs, and goals
