Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Sphinx Riddles Guide on how to get the Lore of the Sphinx quest and solve the puzzle by answering the 12 riddles!
The Sphinx Riddles in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey refers to an interesting side-quest that becomes available after you complete “A Family’s Legacy“. When you finish it and return from Atlantis, you should have the “Lore of the Sphinx” mission available in Boeotia. This is the starter quest that will lead you to the Sphinx itself.
Where to find the Sphinx in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Make sure you are doing this at night. When you arrive at the Sphinx and the statue comes to live, you will have two main options – agree to answer its questions (riddles) or attempt to fight it. You only actually have one choice.
If you decide to fight the Sphinx, a short dialogue will tell you that you don’t really have a choice. Killing the creature will not give you what you need and you are forced to answer the questions any way.
Now, the fun part! There are twelve possible questions the Sphinx might ask you. It only asks three of them in a sequence, though. Which three, you cannot predict. They are always random.
After you give the three correct answers, you must then click on the three pillars with corresponding symbols around the area. I suggest you write your answers down or memorize them well before you start.

Answer: Memory
Riddle: This thing all things devour: birds, beasts, trees, flowers; gnaws iron, bites steel; grinds hard stones to meal.
Answer: Time
Riddle: Some try to hide, some try to cheat; but time will show, we always will meet. Try as you might to guess my name.
Answer: Death
Riddle: As small as your thumb, I am light in the air. You may hear me before you see me, but trust that I’m here.
Answer: Hummingbird
Riddle: I’m alive, but without breath; I’m as cold in life as in death; I’m never thirsty, though I always drink.
Answer: Fish
Riddle: I create my lair with earthen string, and dispatch my prey with a biting sting.
Answer: Spider
Riddle: What is always old and sometimes new; never sad, sometimes blue; never empty, but sometimes full; never pushes, always pulls?
Answer: Moon
Riddle: Never resting, never still; moving silently from hill to hill; it does not walk, run or trot; all is cool where it is not.
Answer: Sun
Riddle: At night they come without being fetched, and by day they are lost without being stolen.
Answer: Stars
Riddle: In spring I am gay in handsome array; in summer more clothing I wear; when colder it grows, I fling off my clothes; and in winter quite naked appear.

Riddle: What is large, yet never grows; has roots that cannot be seen; and is taller than trees?
Answer: Mountain
Riddle: What can run, but never walks; has a mouth, but never talks; has a head, but never weeps; has a bed, but never sleeps?

Mission Rewards Overview
After you complete this mission, you receive a Ship cosmetic – the Sphinx Figurehead, Mace of the Sphinx (weapon) and the Prize of the Sphinx (quest item for “The Gates of Atlantis” mission). You also unlock the “Riddle me This” Achievement.
